The journey to starting You+yours began with the birth of my son Charlie.
Already the mother to 5 children, bringing my Charlie into the world was not as scary for me as it may be for some. Shortly after being born, Charlie was sweet and easy.
So, I felt blindsided when his demeanor began to change around the age of 9 months and he wasn’t reaching milestones as he should. When other kids were babbling their first words, crawling, and connecting with others, I wondered why Charlie seemed to lag behind.
Realising a different trajectory
By the time preschool started, I knew in my gut that Charlie was on a very different trajectory than my other children had been. Trouble sleeping nearly every night, incessant tantrums, chronic diaper rashes, anxiety, problems playing with others, the inability to string together coherent sentences… were these all outer expressions of a larger systemic problem?
It took time and determination, but I began to find answers. As I worked to bring about healing in my son, I came to see his body as a very sensitive vessel. What he consumed directly affected how he felt and behaved.
Going beyond dietary changes
Cleaning up Charlie’s diet quickly became his most powerful medicine. I watched him slowly heal before my eyes as we excluded common allergens, food dyes and artificial preservatives from his meals and snacks.
Charlie’s system and brain were so inflamed though that I needed more than just whole foods to bring him into balance. I tried supplements designed for children, but the added sweeteners, colors and processing agents caused more harm than good.
Our practitioner recommended supplements from her trusted adult brands, but Charlie’s sensory issues precluded him from swallowing pills easily. I would occasionally need to open capsules, pour out the contents, and dose to his needs.
It was tedious and imprecise. I needed to find a better way to help him.
Creating the solution
I set out on the daunting, but incredibly rewarding task of creating the formulas that families need and deserve. Formulas without the allergens, fillers, processing agents and high levels of sugar or sweeteners. Formulas that are third-party tested for purity and potency so families can trust what they are putting into their bodies.
You+yours is the culmination of the years spent fighting to help my child heal and my desire to help families just like mine. Our small team is committed to redefining the supplement industry, bringing only those products to market that we are proud to offer to our own families, including my son Charlie.
